Fabulous 40th Anniversary!
Pumpkin Festival was a Great Success! Spectacular Milestone 40th Year!
Sunny skies, warm weather, beautiful fall foliage and lots of great attractions drew crowds of 5,000 to visit the 40th annual Pumpkin Festival at Hiram House Camp, October 9, 2011.
The event raised over $50,000 for the Hiram House Campership Fund to enable children in need to enjoy a life-enriching summer camp experience.
Thanks to everyone who attended, our staff, volunteers, sponsors and supporters - it was a great success! Please join us again next year, on October 14, 2012, for another fantastic Pumpkin Festival.
Highlights of 2011 Pumpkin Festival -
Food, Rides, Games, Crafts, Animals, Entertainment, Family Fun for All Ages! Visitors enjoyed the 40th annual Pumpkin Festival at Hiram House Camp this fall, at 33775 Hiram Trail, in Moreland Hills, Ohio 44022, on Sunday, October 9, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The festival was filled with beautiful autumn foliage, food, rides, animals, entertainment, games, crafts, and fun for the whole family, on 172-wooded acres in the scenic Chagrin Valley area!
Rain or Shine! Great indoor and outdoor attractions and activities for all ages! Favorite attractions included the SPOOK-tacular indoor Haunted Hay Maze at our Double H Ranch, designing your own BOO-tiful pumpkins in our pumpkin patch, doing the “Witches' Waltz”, enjoying the animal petting farm, hay wagon, Euclid Beach rocket car & pony rides, face painting, candle dipping, raffle, carnival games, inflatable bounce house, kiddie craft corner, coloring contest, archery, pumpkins and mums sale & more!
NEW in 2011! Exciting Entertainment, Shows & Exhibits: Great new entertainment included a build your own Scarecrow Contest, the Crooked River Fifes & Drums and Red Hackle Bagpipers & Drums. Watching the United Skates characters (SkatoSaurus, Sponge Bob & Woody), seeing the famous Chick-fil-A cows and Patton Pest Control’s friendly bugs. Listening to Music Together of the Chagrin Valley for kids and having some hands-on fun at the Children’s Museum of Cleveland and Great Lakes Science Center displays.
Special Attractions! Back by popular demand – Visitors received a FREE child's meal coupon for Yours Truly Restaurants' for the first 500 families through the gates; met life-sized Care Bears, courtesy of Cleveland's own American Greetings; toured University Hospitals Family Health & Safety booth. Saw the beautiful Baldwin Wallace Fairytale Princess Palooza; thrilled to fire juggling and unicycle riding demos by Dan the Juggling Man Castrigano. Marveled at exciting boomerang demonstrations by world champion boomeranger Gary Broadbent of Broadbent Boomerangs; listened to African drums by the Golden Ciphers and folk music by River City Trouble Band; enjoyed life-size walk-around “Jungle Puppets” like BeBe the Chimpanzee, by Katie Bee Entertainment; St. Ignatius Circus Company jugglers, antique fire engine music & more!
Fall Foods & refreshments include: Great taste treats! Guests tried yummy baked apples over an open fire or spicy nachos & cheese, enjoyed a delicious pancake breakfast (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and other food items available throughout the day, including pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausages, chicken fingers, fries, s'mores, apple cider, donuts, caramel apples, cotton candy, popcorn, coffee, funnel cakes, decorate your own Cookies by Design & more!
New for our 40th Anniversary! FREE admission was given to all children, ages 12 and under, $5 adult admission. All-day wristbands were available at $20 for most attractions. Parking was FREE at Orange Schools, at 32000 Chagrin Blvd. with FREE shuttle buses to the camp.
