Parents are welcome to park and walk over with your camper the first day your child attends camp, however, parking space is limited. Camp will end promptly at 4:00 PM. Counselors will help the campers out of the cars on the passenger side of the vehicle. Campers will proceed to their designated areas, where they will gather with their counselor. On the first day of each session, staff members will have master group lists to help identify your camper’s group.
Departure: Day Camp pick-up time is 4:00 PM. Staff will help your children into the car. Again, PLEASE remain in your cars. If you do need to get out of your car to come in to the office or speak to a staff member, please park in the parking lot.
Before and After Care: Our before and after care is organized through Orange Schools through their Open Door programs. Campers going to Open Door before camp will be picked up on time to be at camp at 9AM. Campers going to Open Door after camp will be dropped off at Orange Schools after the conclusion of the camp day. No campers are able to stay at camp after 4PM.
Swimmng: Each camper needs to bring a suit and towel daily. If there are specific conditions under which your child cannot swim, please inform the camp office. All swim time at our pool is recreational and not instructional. Campers are required to take a swim test on the first day of each session to determine their swimming ability. Our pool has lifeguards and our waterfront director on deck whenever campers are present.
Lunch: Lunches must be packed every day except for days of cookouts. Prior to cook out day, a note will be sent home with your camper. Hiram House will also provide dinner on the last Thursday of the session and breakfast on Friday after the overnight.
Overnights: On the last Thursday of each session there is an overnight. On this Thursday morning campers should bring their overnight gear with them. Included should be: a lunch, sleeping bag, pillow, bug spray, toiletries and change of clothes for Friday as well as their typical camping gear (swimsuit, towel, etc). If your child chooses not to sleep over he or she may be picked up at 8:30 PM on Thursday. If during the night your camper decides he or she needs to go home, you will receive a phone call and will be asked to pick him/her up, regardless of the time. If the weather is inclement on the night of the overnight, the overnight locations will be moved indoors. Pick up time on Friday is 10:00 AM. There is no camp on Friday.
Photographs: We are offering 5x7 color prints of your child's group. Payments for photographs must be received on or before the first day of each session. Pictures ordered on the day of pictures or later will be at an increased price.
Camp Store: Campers go to the camp store on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday. On these days, campers may purchase one ice cream and/or one drink. On the last Wednesday of each session campers may buy T-shirts and souvenirs. Camp store money must be deposited into the camper’s account prior to their visit. DO NOT SEND MONEY WITH YOUR CAMPER. Cash will not be accepted at the camp store. You will be notified of any balance in your child's account at the end of the summer and it can be refunded.
